Getting Started

What happens next?

You can email us with your phone number or leave us a voice message, and we will get back to you to arrange a brief 15-minute intake call. During the call, we can talk about what you are looking for, whether we are the right fit for your needs, and current appointment availability. Depending on your needs, we may also discuss other referral options that could be helpful

For children and adolescents under 15, the first appointment is a 90-minute parent-only session. This gives us time to understand your child’s background and needs and talk about how we can work together to support them.

Referrals

What you need to know about referrals, funding and accessing support.

All referrals, regardless of how they are funded, go through our intake process. This helps us understand what brings you to therapy, what support you are looking for, and whether our service is the right fit for your needs.

Please note: Completing our intake process does not guarantee an appointment. Sometimes another service may be better suited to your needs. If this is the case, we will do our best to point you in the right direction.

You are welcome to contact Sunbury Psychology at any stage, whether you already have a referral or are simply exploring support options. We're happy to answer questions and talk through what support might be helpful before a referral is obtained.

Medicare

We accept referrals from GPs under a:

Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

  • Eligible clients may access Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.

  • A referral from your GP is required before rebates can be claimed.

Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCMP)

  • We also accept referrals under a Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCMP).

  • Please speak with your GP regarding your eligibility and available rebates.

Private Health Insurance

If you have extras cover for psychology, we can provide an invoice for you to claim through your private health fund.

Rebate amounts vary between funds and levels of cover, so we recommend checking with your insurer before your appointment.

TAC

We accept clients with approved Transport Accident Commission (TAC) claims.

Appointments are paid for on the day, and you can then submit your invoice to TAC for reimbursement. We recommend checking your approval status with TAC before you begin treatment.

DVA

We accept eligible Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) White Card and Gold Card holders.

GP and Professional Referrals

GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists, schools and other professionals are welcome to refer to our service.

However, all new clients still complete our intake process before appointments are offered. This helps us make sure we are the right service for your needs.

Where possible, we encourage individuals and families to contact us directly so we can answer questions and help guide you through the process.

NDIS

Sunbury Psychology is not currently accepting new NDIS referrals.

Please contact us if you have any questions about funding options or accessing support.
